The sun shines daily on our heads
and all we say is:
Africa is too hot!
Too hot for what?
For thinking?
For dreaming?
For demanding whether this is God's way of reminding us
that we look but still we cannot see
all that heat and yet we pray
for rain to fill the dam
so we can please have our lights back on
a few hours a day?
Oh - it costs so-o-o much, the experts claim
to tap into the rays of the sun
and yet they forget
no lasting good
comes without a price we have to pay
And so the story never changes
power surges, blown-up fridges
little work done throughout the land
and still
the sun shines on our heads
and all we say is:
Africa is too hot.
